Take-Two Confirms Rockstar Will Continue to Support GTA Online After GTA 6’s Launch

A lot of people are wondering how the launch of GTA 6, scheduled for November 19, will affect GTA Online—the main source of revenue for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. A new report confirms the previous ones that the multiplayer mode will continue to exist and will receive further updates.

On September 17, Take-Two Interactive held its annual shareholders' meeting, during which the company's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, and other executives shared details about future Grand Theft Auto projects. Specifically, regarding GTA Online, one of the shareholders made the following statement, as revealed via ResetEra:

“GTA 6 is a single-player title and is due to release this November. We will continue to support GTA Online after GTA VI release and beyond.”

Previously, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, had already stated Rockstar plans to continue supporting GTA Online with various content even after the release of GTA 6 in November. Given that the sixth installment won’t have multiplayer at launch and that revenue from GTA Online remains substantial, this makes perfect sense. However, the situation could change in 2027. According to a new report, GTA 6 Online could launch next year, which would force Rockstar Games to shift its focus entirely to the new project.

The studio has also announced physical releases of the GTA 6’s soundtrack in three editions, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
