Resident Evil Veronica's First Gameplay Is Still Rumored to Be Shown at Gamescom This Month

At the end of this month, Germany hosts one of the year's biggest gaming events, Gamescom 2026, where studios will get a chance to show new footage from previously announced projects, as well as reveal games long rumored about. Capcom has already confirmed its attendance, but Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the original 2000 game, is generating a lot of debate ahead of the show, since it's still unclear whether the studio will bring the game along or not.

Early reports suggested Capcom was planning to reveal new Resident Evil Veronica footage at Gamescom 2026, with rumors pointing to a gameplay reveal either behind closed doors or publicly during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25. But according to the latest unofficial reports, the studio has apparently dropped that plan, and the game will likely only show up at Tokyo Game Show 2026 in September instead. Nothing's been officially confirmed either way, though, but reliable franchise insider Marcox now claims new leaks suggest Capcom still intends to showcase Resident Evil Veronica at Gamescom 2026, most likely through a gameplay reveal during Opening Night Live, though a closed-door press presentation isn't off the table either. You can check out his comments below:

After Resident Evil Veronica was absent from the Gamescom initial showcase list, leaks confirmed that Capcom is planning to present a surprise first gameplay trailer either backstage or on Opening Night Live, where the game will be showcased in detail for the first time to the public.

Marcox had already reported on several leaks concerning franchise games earlier this month, including Resident Evil Veronica. His latest report also reaffirms Capcom's plans to release Resident Evil 10 in 2029, targeting next-gen consoles, PlayStation 6 and Project Helix, with Claire Redfield reportedly set to be one of the central characters, ahead of an expected cameo appearance in Resident Evil Veronica first.

Earlier this month, it also came out that Capcom significantly reworked Rockfort Island in Resident Evil Veronica, turning it into a full semi-open-world sandbox, with gameplay leaning more into survival, where ammo and first-aid kits are claimed to be scarce and valuable.

Resident Evil Veronica is officially confirmed to release in 2027 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, though the exact release date remains unknown. A story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, confirmed earlier this year, is also expected to follow the remake's release. According to a new leak, Ada Wong will appear in it, though Capcom hasn't revealed any official details about the expansion yet.
