Capcom Is Planning to Release Resident Evil 10 in 2029—with an Eye on PlayStation 6 and Project Helix

Capcom is currently officially working on two Resident Evil projects - the Code Veronica remake, simply titled Veronica, and a story DLC for Requiem. Plenty of rumors point to more games in the pipeline, though, both remakes and new entries, one of which is the tenth anniversary installment that fans believe could serve as the series' true culmination.

Capcom hasn't given even the slightest hint about Resident Evil 10 yet, but some details have already leaked. A new report from insider Marcox, who's shared info before, suggests the tenth installment could be released in 2029, though a delay to 2030 isn't off the table if development takes longer than planned. Capcom is also reportedly planning the game for next-gen consoles, the PlayStation 6 and Project Helix, both expected to be available by then. Marcox also claims Claire Redfield was originally set to appear in Resident Evil Veronica ahead of a later appearance in Resident Evil 10, where she would apparently play a central role, though it's unclear whether those plans still hold. “Capcom is currently targeting a 2029 release for Resident Evil 10 (with a possible extension to 2030 depending on development progress).

Given the distance to the release date, Resident Evil 10 is being developed for next-generation consoles (such as the PlayStation 6 and the upcoming Xbox).

Initial plans suggest that Claire Redfield's return in the 2027 Code Veronica remake will serve as a "psychological and physical prelude" for players, directly setting the stage for her appearance as a mature, solitary protagonist in a major biological battle in Resident Evil 10 in 2029.”

In one of his recent reports, Marcox stated Capcom wants Resident Evil 10 to be the scariest entry in the series' history, leaning into semi-open environments, limited ammo and healing items, and a constant sense of being hunted. It also sounds like the game will introduce a brand-new protagonist, though Leon S. Kennedy or Chris Redfield may step in as mentors. However, none of this has been confirmed by Capcom yet, so for now these reports should be considered with a grain of salt.

As well as Resident Evil 10, rumor has it that Capcom is also working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and the original game in the franchise. As for the confirmed projects—Resident Evil Veronica and the DLC for Requiem—they are both scheduled for release in 2027, although the exact date remains unknown at this stage.
