Insider Reveals Possible Resident Evil 10 Details About Its Main Character and Horror Aspects

Capcom hasn't yet officially confirmed work on Resident Evil 10—the anniversary installment of the iconic horror franchise, the one that many fans believe will mark the series' culmination. But according to early speculation, the studio started the game’s development back in 2021, and this year alone has already brought the first real details about what we should expect from the title.

Meanwhile, well-known insider Marcox, who was one of the first to share details on Resident Evil 10, has published new information about the project, citing internal Capcom reports. According to his sources, the studio wants the tenth installment to be the scariest and most mysterious in the franchise, leaning heavily into fully isolated, semi-open locations, paired with oppressive, atmospheric psychological horror and constant pursuit. Marcox also reports the protagonist will be an entirely new character, though franchise veterans Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy will serve as mentors, likely making them key figures in the story. You can check out the insider's full report below:

“Reports indicate that RE10 will be the most terrifying and mysterious game in the series, focusing on completely isolated and semi-open environments based on psychological horror and constant chases.

Capcom is considering introducing a completely new main character for the tenth installment to revitalize the series, with veteran characters (such as Chris and Leon) appearing in mentoring or supporting roles to assist the new protagonist, in line with their aging within the timeline of continuity.”

In his very first report, Marcox claimed the main heroine of Resident Evil 10 will be a young woman named Talia, a survivor of a biological incident in a modern-day European city. At the same time, Alex Mercer from Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will reportedly serve as the main villain, facing off against Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine. According to the insider, Capcom is also seriously considering moving the franchise's setting to Asia, with Resident Evil Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa having personally stated that the events of a future game could take players to Japan.

However, none of this is officially confirmed, though, so for now it should be treated as a rumor. Speaking of confirmed projects, Capcom is working on Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the original 2000 game, and a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. Both games are expected to launch in 2027.
