Remedy Can’t Reveal Anything About Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Because of Rockstar Games

As is well known, Remedy Entertainment is actively working on its new project, Control Resonant, launching next month for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The studio is also developing the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, announced back in 2022, but despite both games being in full production, Remedy can't share any details about them.

That's because Rockstar Games publishes the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, and it's up to the studio when any promotional material comes out. Right now, though, Rockstar's attention is elsewhere: Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated game of 2026, launches this November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with its next reveal, " GTA 6: An Extended Look," set for August 27 on Netflix. Remedy confirmed this during a recent Q&A following its latest financial report, which you can check out below:

It seems unlikely Rockstar will shift focus from GTA 6 to the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake anytime soon, so we'll probably hear more in 2027, when the games are expected to release. That said, this December, after GTA 6's launch, The Game Awards will take place, and there's a chance the first footage of the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake could show up there. That would be symbolic, given it was at last year Game Awards that Remedy first announced Control Resonant.

As for Remedy's financial report, the studio confirmed Control Resonant has been wishlisted more than 1.5 million times, and CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called it a must-have day-one purchase. The report also revealed Alan Wake 2 sales have reached 3 million copies across all platforms.

Control Resonant will release on September 24 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The release date for the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is currently unknown.
