Geoff Keighley Announced the Exact Date for The Game Awards 2026

There are exactly four months to go until one of the year's biggest gaming events, The Game Awards, often called the "Oscars of gaming." This was once again confirmed by the event’s host, Geoff Keighley, who also revealed tickets will become available soon.

On his X page, Keighley reiterated details first announced back in February —The Game Awards 2026 will take place December 10 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles—and confirmed tickets go on sale October 29. You can check out Keighley's latest statement below:

Shows like The Game Awards tend to draw huge interest, not just because they crown the year's best games across nearly every genre, but also because they're also a magnet for new game announcements and fresh footage from existing titles. Last year's event, for instance, confirmed two new Star Wars games (Fate of the Old Republic and Galactic Racer), two new Tomb Raider titles, Control Resonant, and plenty more. That's likely a big reason the show became the most-watched in its history.

It’s quite possible that this year's Game Awards will bring plenty of announcements too, not to mention a stacked field competing for Game of the Year. One of the frontrunners is Resident Evil Requiem, already named the best game of the first half of the year by Empire.

The Game Awards 2026 is scheduled for December 10 at 4:30 PM in Los Angeles.
