GTA 6's New Trailer Is Rumored to Be Released on August 6 - Will Last 7 Minutes and Feature Gameplay Look

Following several reports from reliable gaming insiders, those eagerly awaiting the release of GTA 6 are excited that Rockstar Games may treat them to news about the most anticipated game of 2026 already this month—this could take the form of either a new trailer or the first look at gameplay. The latest rumor claims that this will happen very soon and reveals what to expect.

A Reddit user, pinymax, has posted information suggesting that a new official GTA 6 trailer will be released on Thursday, August 6. It will be a 7-minute video, which will also feature over two minutes of gameplay footage without any cinematic scenes. According to the user, Rockstar Games’ marketing department had intended to release this video two weeks ago but was unable to do so due to certain legal approvals. The source also reveals some of the highlights that will feature in the trailer; you can find more detailed information below:

Trailer 3 is dropping this Thursday. I’m probably deleting this account after posting.

I’m typing this from a QA machine that absolutely isn’t connected to the internet. Before anyone asks—yes, I know how stupid this is.

I just watched the latest internal marketing cut.

It’s 7 minutes and 11 seconds.

Whoever says Rockstar “lost it” is going to look really, really silly.

Hard details:

The trailer opens with a 12-second uninterrupted shot of a pelican stealing fries from a tourist before the logo even appears.

Jason’s first spoken line is simply:

“You picked the wrong damn Tuesday.”

There is 2 minutes and 18 seconds of raw gameplay with no cinematic cuts. Rockstar wants people to stop saying everything is scripted.

Lucia drives through a gas station without crashing into anything.

Every tester laughed because statistically nobody playing the game will manage it.

The radio is playing a song nobody expected. I won’t say which one because it’ll immediately identify who leaked this.

There’s a tiny detail where NPCs pull out their phones to record police chases instead of running away. It’s one of those “holy shit” moments that sells the whole world.

You briefly see the airport, but nobody is flying planes. Rockstar is saving that reveal.

The trailer file is literally called:

TR3_FINAL_THISONEFORREAL_v18.mp4

Why now?

Marketing wanted it two weeks ago.

It got delayed because legal had to clear dozens of parody billboards and social media jokes that were “too close to reality.”

There was also a bug where dolphins would occasionally spawn inside hotel swimming pools after loading a save.

Nobody knows why.

Apparently fixing that somehow broke rain reflections for the fourth time this year.

The build that marketing approved is:

2.3.0.4871

The internal Slack reactions were apparently just rows of fire emojis from people who have worked there for over a decade.

One senior developer reportedly said:

“This is the first trailer that actually shows the game.”

Believe me or don’t.

You’ll find out in about 48 hours.

I won’t answer questions, and I definitely won’t tell you how I know any of this.

Of course, there have already been plenty of rumors similar to this, and none of them have led to anything—but there are a few twists here. Firstly, insider NateTheHate has repeatedly confirmed that GTA 6 will be revealed this month and that it will be a “meaningful look” at the game. Secondly, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, is due to hold its next earnings call on August 7. In light of this event, another well-known insider, Tom Henderson, has suggested that a new GTA 6 trailer could be released the day before —that is, on August 6—as reported by Reddit user pinymax. It seems there are too many coincidences, and this is yet another wild theory, but fans will certainly be delighted by such a turn of events.

If Rockstar Games does indeed release a new GTA 6 trailer that also includes gameplay footage, we can expect it to feature the Rolling Stones’ song ‘Heartbreaker’ and scenes from Liberty City, as has previously been rumored. What’s more, the gameplay footage hopefully could answer some questions that have long been on fans’ minds—specifically, whether the game will feature a first-person mode, how much NPC behavior will differ from, for example, Red Dead Redemption 2 (and how realistic it will be), and much more.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as how GTA 6 is reshaping the 2026 game calendar and everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
