Beast of Reincarnation Received Mixed Reviews on Steam
On August 4, Beast of Reincarnation—a new game from Game Freak, the studio behind one of the year’s most highly rated projects, Pokémon Pokopia—was released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, the developers’ new IP has not been received with the same enthusiasm; the game's Metacritic score currently stands at 73, and only 55% of OpenCritic reviewers recommend the game.
Despite its impressive combat system and the chemistry between the main character, Emma, and her dog, Koo, critics were left unimpressed by the Best of Reincarnation story, as well as by a significant number of technical issues. Meanwhile, Steam users were unimpressed by the game, either. As revealed by SteamDB, currently, the game has “mixed” reviews, and its peak concurrent players over the past 24 hours stood at a modest 15,000.
User reviews note that, aside from complaints about the plot, Beast of Reincarnation's open world feels empty and unimpressive. In addition, more and more players are reporting issues with controls and the camera, as well as the frustrating problem of unstable frame rates. Of course, there are also positive reviews—these praise the atmosphere, the graphics, and Game Files’ attempt to do something new, separate from the Pokémon universe.
Beast of Reincarnation is an action RPG set in Japan in the year 4026. The main character is a young woman named Emma, who, along with her dog named Koo, finds herself cast out of society due to an unusual illness. Together, they must survive in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by sinister monsters and dangerous robots.
The game is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
