Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition Details Revealed by PlayStation Store Page

Last month, a leak revealed that Ubisoft is developing a massive update for Ghost Recon: Wildlands on current-generation consoles - PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The studio itself responded to the leak that same day, though it didn’t reveal all the cards. However, an official announcement is now very likely to take place tomorrow, August 6, as part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Meanwhile, new information about the Ghost Recon Wildlands “Next-Gen Upgrade” has come to light thanks to the game's page on the PlayStation Store. Specifically, it has been revealed that the enhanced version is set to be released tomorrow—August 6—on the franchise's anniversary, and it will offer players all previously released DLC, as well as a new story mission titled “The Last Rites.” Furthermore, the game will be available for free to anyone from August 6-10. New Story Pack: The Last Rites will be available for free. Along with various other Quality of Life Improvements & more. The game will also be F2P from 6th August to 10th August.

Ubisoft, for its part, posted on its official social media pages that the studio will reveal more about the Ghost Recon franchise tomorrow as part of its 25th-anniversary celebration. The livestream will be available on YouTube at 9 AM PDT/6 PM CEST.

The fans also remain hopeful that the new game in the franchise, known as Project OVR, will also be mentioned there. According to earlier reports, the game has already lost some planned content, including helicopters and a workbench feature that would've let players create and modify weapons. If Ubisoft does announce it, that could give fans some hope the game is still on track for the coming years—but if not, it will be another sign the development is full of major problems. The studio has previously confirmed in its financial report they still plan to launch new Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and Ghost Recon games by 2029.
