Ubisoft Will Soon Release Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Rumors have surfaced that Ubisoft is planning to release an updated version of Ghost Recon Wildlands for current-gen consoles, packed with new features and content. There has been no official announcement from the studio yet (but there is a catch), but a reliable source has confirmed the leaked image making the rounds is legit.

Reliable gaming insider Tom Henderson published a new report on Insider Gaming, confirming Ubisoft is preparing to release Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition. The update will soon be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, adding a new mission along with support for 4K resolution and 60 FPS. Meanwhile, Ubisoft has since responded to the leak. The official Ghost Recon account on X posted that on August 6—the day the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary—the studio will share more details about the update. That looks like the date for the Definitive Edition's official announcement, as you can check out below:

It would be a nice touch if Ubisoft used the 25th anniversary to also officially announce the new Ghost Recon video game, known as Project OVR. According to earlier reports, the game has already lost some planned content, including helicopters and a workbench feature that would've let players create and modify weapons. If Ubisoft does announce it, that could give fans some hope the game is still on track for the coming years—but if not, it will be another sign the development is full of major problems. The studio has previously confirmed in its financial report they still plan to launch new Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and Ghost Recon games by 2029.
