Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Game Director Hopes The Game Won’t Be Forgotten After GTA 6 Release

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the remake of 2013's original title, was arguably the biggest release of July so far. The game has already broken several franchise records—highest-rated game in the series' history according to users and highest-rated by critics in the last 13 years. Ubisoft also recently confirmed sales have hit 3 million copies in under two weeks since launch.

To share more about what's next for the game, Black Flag Resynced game director Richard Knight recently spoke to JorRaptor on YouTube, where he teased the developers plan to support the game for at least a year, adding new features and focusing on fixing issues. He also asked fans not to forget about the game once GTA 6—the most anticipated video game of 2026—launches this November. You can check out the highlights from Knight's interview below:

“I can't say anything officially, but it doesn't feel like a crazy bet, we definitely need to support the game.

We need to, you know, fix bugs. Sorry for anyone running into bugs, uh, they hurt - they're painful for us, too. And we do want to add some quality-of-life stuff. So, I mean, it's a pretty reasonable guess. And please, play us when GTA 6 comes out.”

In the same interview, Knight also claimed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced might get a story DLC at some point that would dig deeper into Edward Kenway's story. That would obviously be a treat for fans, but the game director didn't give a firm guarantee of when it potentially can happen. Right now, the studio's priority is fixing bugs.

And it's worth remembering Black Flag Resynced already hides a teaser for Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe —the next mainline game in the series, announced back in 2022. Insider Rogue, who confirmed the connection between the two games, has also shared a bunch of new Codename Hexe details recently —including gameplay features, pricing, multiple editions, and a possible release date.
