Hidden Quests, No Denuvo, and No Minigames: The Blood of Dawnwalker New Details Revealed by Rebel Wolves

The Blood of Dawnwalker, a new open-world RPG from Rebel Wolves—the team behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—is one of the few confirmed titles coming this autumn. Last week, the studio announced the game has officially gone gold, so a delay is ruled out.

Recently, the developers held another recent Q&A session, revealing a few more details about the game. As reported by MP1st, Rebel Wolves confirmed that despite the obvious similarities to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Blood of Dawnwalker won't feature a Gwent-style card game or other minigames. Instead, the developers promise a variety of side activities—hidden treasures, ancient ruins, bandit camps, creature habitats, and full-fledged hidden quests not marked on the in-game map.

Another welcome bit of news is that there is no Denuvo anti-piracy protection in the game, which often hurts its performance. That had been a concern in this case given the game's fairly high system requirements, but Rebel Wolves listened to the fans here too —last month, the studio lowered both the minimum and recommended requirements needed to hit 1080p at 30 and 60 FPS, respectively. Updated requirements for other presets are coming later.

Not long ago, gaming journalists got access to The Blood of Dawnwalker's early version. The reviews were mostly positive, with particular praise for its echoes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as well as the game’s atmosphere, nonlinear structure, and the core concept of a limited time frame to finish the game. As we know, in the game, players have to decide which quests to complete and which to skip. Rebel Wolves definitely wants gamers coming back for multiple playthroughs to see how differently things can unfold.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, you play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever caught between the world of day and the realm of night. The game is set in 14th-century Europe, though the studio is already thinking about expanding the series. Judging by last month’s trailer and comments from the game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, if a sequel happens, its events will take place in the modern world.
