Ubisoft Might Be Working on Story DLCs for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced About Edward Kenway

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced—a remake of the original 2013 game, released July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5—might be Ubisoft's biggest success in years. It's not just the highest-rated entry in the franchise's history over the past 13 years, as its sales have already brought in over $35 million for the developers in just over a week since launch.

Even Ubisoft seems surprised by the reception, and there's now a real chance Edward Kenway's story could continue. It was teased by Black Flag Resynced game director Richard Knight during a chat on the YouTube channel JorRaptor, where he claimed the studio is exploring story expansions that could extend Kenway's saga. Nevertheless, nothing is set in stone so far, as Ubisoft is currently focused on improving the game through new patches and updates. The studio recently announced Update 1.0.4, which fixes a lot of issues, performance improvements, and removes the 30 FPS cap in cutscenes, a change plenty of players had been asking for.

Knight also mentioned Ubisoft might eventually do a remake of Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry—a standalone expansion for the original Black Flag video game that follows Adewale, one of Edward Kenway's crew members. And it's worth remembering Black Flag Resynced already hides a teaser for Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe —the next mainline game in the series, announced back in 2022. Insider Rogue, who confirmed the connection between the two games, has also shared a bunch of new Codename Hexe details recently —including gameplay features, pricing, multiple editions, and a possible release date.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
