God of War Laufey Release Window Revealed by Insider - First Half of 2027

Announced during the first week of the month on State of Play, God of War: Laufey has become the most talked-about and viewed game across all recent presentations —including Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, and Nintendo Direct. Santa Monica Studio's new project managed to surpass highly anticipated remakes like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which were also showcased last week.

It's no surprise that God of War: Laufey is attracting so many players. Santa Monica Studio took an unconventional approach to expanding the universe's lore by making Faye the main heroine and setting the story in Everywhen—the transcendent afterlife realm of the gods. Moreover, the studio's head, Cory Barlog, confirmed that the events of the game will run parallel to those in God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok. Perhaps the only thing worrying players the most right now is the release date of this new project.

The developers have yet to announce even an approximate release date for God of War: Laufey, but several insiders and journalists, including Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, have claimed that it will launch in 2027, so the wait won't be too long. Another confirmation came from a reliable insider in the gaming industry, NateTheHate, who, in conversations with other users, reiterated that the release of God of War is still planned for the first half of 2027, as you can check out below:

Last I heard the target was first half 2027. Could change but that was a hope at one point.

In later posts, the insider was also asked which would be released first—God of War: Laufey or Until Dawn 2, the new horror game announced at State of Play and confirmed for release in 2027. NateTheHate added that both games might come out in the first half of 2027, but it’s still too early to make any definite predictions at this stage.
