Sony and Firesprite Announced Until Dawn 2—New PS5 Horror Will Release Next Year
As expected, the recent State of Play showcase delighted players with announcements and reveals of new projects, including several previously unannounced titles. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the June event was the announcement of Until Dawn 2 from Firesprite studio.
Despite its numbered status, the sequel will not serve as a direct continuation of the original 2015 title, although the appearance of Peter Stormare as Doctor Hill still feels like a connecting thread. The developers have released a debut trailer for the project, which shifts the setting from a mountain ski resort to an abandoned island that initially appears to be a tropical paradise. The narrative will follow an entirely new cast of characters who work as ghost hunters, documenting paranormal phenomena for their online channel. Much like the original title, this group of friends must confront an unexpected threat, where every choice made by the player carries significant consequences. The first news about Until Dawn 2 appeared back in 2024. It was then reported that the game, developed by Firesprite, is a narrative horror; the events take place on an island and occur within pre-established IP. It was also indicated that the project will be released on PC and PlayStation 5, but since Sony refused to port their single-player video games, Until Dawn 2 will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
