Pearl Abyss Announced the Beyond the Abyss: Community Challenge Contest for All Crimson Desert Fans

With the release of the new update for Crimson Desert, Patch Notes Version 1.11.00, which launched on June 12, Pearl Abyss announced an unexpected opportunity for fans to showcase their creative side. This initiative is directly connected to one of the major games of 2026.

The developers have announced a special contest called Beyond the Abyss: Community Challenge, dedicated to exploring the world of Crimson Desert. Players are given complete freedom in capturing gameplay footage. Applications can be submitted through a dedicated section on the studio's website, and participants can enter in two categories: short-form and long-form.

Potential content creators need to make their videos and posts on their YouTube channel publicly accessible, upload a video, and be sure to include the hashtags #CrimsonDesert and #BeyondTheAbyss. Naturally, the more videos you submit, the higher your chances of being noticed. Applications will be accepted until July 12, and on August 3, Pearl Abyss will announce the results. A total of 10 finalists will be selected to receive the prize of visiting the developers' main office in South Korea, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered. Additionally, they will receive memorable souvenirs—a Crimson Desert coin made from real gold and a set of exclusive in-game merchandise.

It's great to see that the developers are trying to capture players' attention in this way, and no doubt there will be those eager to make it into the list of 10 winners. As for the latest update for Crimson Desert, Patch Notes 1.11.00 introduced the ability to register up to 100 pets, added the option to purchase lost loot, and fixed numerous technical issues.

This week, Pearl Abyss also announced that total sales of Crimson Desert across all platforms have surpassed 6 million copies —an incredible achievement for the studio and a great motivation to continue releasing free content for the game. Earlier, they had also revealed that they are already working on DLC for Crimson Desert and shared a roadmap outlining their plans for the coming months.

We should also keep in mind that Pearl Abyss is also working on their next title, DokeV, announced back in 2019. It's an open-world action-adventure video game featuring Dokebi—Korean folklore creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams and collide together on their adventures. The release date is currently unknown.
