Despite a slow start, Crimson Desert, released in March this year by the South Korean studio Pearl Abyss, has become one of the major projects of 2026. The developers' recent announcement about surpassing another significant sales milestone confirms this success.

On their social media channels, Pearl Abyss announced that total sales of Crimson Desert across all platforms have already reached 6 million, which is a significant achievement for a new IP—especially considering the challenges the game faced at launch. Nevertheless, Crimson Desert is now regarded as one of the best games of 2026 in terms of the vastness of its game world and the support provided by the developers. Moreover, the studio has no intention of slowing down when it comes to the game's ongoing development.

Undoubtedly, the key to Crimson Desert's success lies in the developers' approach to the game's development. Over the past few months, they have released various updates that not only fixed technical issues but also introduced new content, thereby attracting more players. Furthermore, the studio recently confirmed that they will continue this approach as long as players remain satisfied.

Meanwhile, Pearl Abyss also announced that they are developing DLC for Crimson Desert, along with a roadmap for the game's development in the coming months. This plan will include enhancements to the combat system, the Re-Blockade feature, and even the storyline campaign. Additionally, a new update— Patch Notes Version 1.10.0 —was released last week, and the next update is expected soon, likely by the end of this week or the beginning of the next.

We should also keep in mind that Pearl Abyss is also working on their next title, DokeV, announced back in 2019. It's an open-world action-adventure video game featuring Dokebi—Korean folklore creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams and collide together on their adventures.
