Crimson Desert Will Continue to Receive Free Updates As Long As It Needs To

Released in March this year, Pearl Abyss's Crimson Desert has already received such a substantial amount of content that it has become one of the standout transformations of the year. Moreover, the studio has offered all these updates completely free of charge and, it seems, plans to continue doing so.

Pearl Abyss PR and marketing director, Will Powers, gave an interview to the Dexerto portal, revealing that the studio will continue to release free updates for Crimson Desert for as long as the players need them. He also compared the development direction of the new RPG with Black Desert. You can check out the highlights from the interview below:

“This is a model that gamers aren’t used to, of a premium game giving consistent and free content post-launch.

Having continued support and continued content both rewards your community and the people that have invested time in it, as well as doing free marketing without having to spend it elsewhere. So, you’re spending it on adding more content to the game instead of spending it on advertising.

Without the community, there is no Black Desert. Without Black Desert, there is no Crimson Desert. So the whole goal of the company is to take care of the community, because without them, there is no company. We live and die by our fans.”

Last week, Pearl Abyss released another update for Crimson Desert— Patch Notes Version 1.10.0 —which added new mini-games, a new pet, a new mount, improved the Re-Blockade feature, and fixed various technical issues. Prior to this, the studio announced the development of a DLC for the game and revealed a new roadmap.

Besides releasing some big updates for Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss is also working on their next title, DokeV, announced back in 2019. It's an open-world action-adventure video game featuring Dokebi—Korean folklore creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams and collide together on their adventures. The release date is currently unknown.
