Pearl Abyss Is Now Actively Working on Their Next Title, DokeV

Last month, Pearl Abyss released the long-awaited RPG—Crimson Desert. The game has been one of the biggest releases of 2026 so far; although it didn’t make it as “the next Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, it was a decent title with a huge open world, a nice combat system, and a bunch of activities.

After a rocky start—due in part to numerous technical issues—the game now has Mostly Positive reviews on Steam, and recently Pearl Abyss revealed that Crimson Desert has sold 4 million copies worldwide across all platforms, which is a great success. Recently, the CEO of developing studio Heo Jin-young has spoken to South Korean gaming outlet INVEN, where he confirmed that after the release of Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss has turned their attention to the next game—DokeV. The game was initially announced back in 2019; it’s an open-world action-adventure video game featuring Dokebi—Korean folklore creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams and collide together on their adventures. According to Pearl Abyss, the release of DokeV is planned no earlier than 2027. Despite Pearl Abyss now focusing on DokeV development, the studio will continue to release more content and updates for Crimson Desert. Moreover, in the same conversation with INVEN, Heo Jin-young also revealed more information about Crimson Desert. Specifically, the studio is confirmed to be working on a Switch 2 version of the game. He also raised the possibility that the game might feature multiplayer and mods support in the future but admitted it doesn’t look possible for now.
