PlayStation’s State of Play Reportedly Taking Place Next Week—With GTA 6 Possibly Involved

The coming month promises to be a hot one for gaming showcases; it has already been confirmed that Summer Game Fest will run from June 5 to 8, with the Xbox Games Showcase taking place on the 7th. A new PlayStation State of Play event is also expected to join the lineup.

There has been no official statement from Sony regarding State of Play yet, but information previously surfaced online from reliable insider NateTheHate that the event could take place in late May or early June. According to the new update from industry scooper SM VISION, the next State of Play show is scheduled for May 24, and the official confirmation is expected next week, as well. For now, it’s just a rumor and should be considered with a grain of salt.

It’s curious that insider DetectiveSeeds also reacted to this statement. According to him, this leak could be pretty much real in the context of a possible reveal of GTA 6. It was he who recently stated that, as part of the partnership between Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive and Sony, Grand Theft Auto VI might appear at one of the company's future presentations. Especially considering that GTA 6 pre-orders will open as early as next week, between May 18 and May 21— which was also confirmed by insider Tom Henderson. Furthermore, according to DetectiveSeeds, the new GTA 6 trailer will be released before any details regarding pre-orders are announced.

Nevertheless, GTA 6 is far from the only game that may be featured at the upcoming State of Play. A source who previously predicted the February event date with accuracy has hinted in a new post that the new God of War title centered on Faye will be showcased at the upcoming Sony presentation, while Insomniac Games has already confirmed plans to share new material for their highly anticipated project, Marvel's Wolverine, this spring.
