Insider Clarifies When the Next State of Play Is Taking Place

There has been a lot of speculation that Sony’s next State of Play presentation might take place on April 16 after initial reports of it being held in late May/early June. It didn’t happen, and instead Sony’s rivals, Microsoft, held a presentation, Xbox First Look, in which 4A Games presented the new Metro title—Metro 2039.

It doesn’t mean that Sony doesn’t plan or isn't preparing for the next State of Play show, after we discovered plenty of announcements and reveals at the latest one back in February. The latest information comes from notable gaming insider NateTheHate, who reveals that late this month or early June is the best time to hold a new State of Play show. His comments corroborate the report from a previous insider—Millie A.— who had previously cited roughly the same timeframe.

“Do you think there’ll be a State of Play this month?

My opinion: Either late this month or early June seem like the most probable windows for the next State of Play.”

The insider was also asked about the potential God of War announced during this State of Play show—a new God of War game, which is reportedly related to Freya. Although NateTheHate doesn’t have information, it looks like a possibility to announce the game at State of Play.

“You think we can expect Faye God of War announcement at this next State of Play?

Seems as good a time as any; but I don't have any information to share.”

The next month, especially its beginning, is already full of massive gaming events, as we know that Summer Game Fest is taking place on June 5-8, and Xbox Games Showcase is confirmed for June 7. It actually makes sense for Sony to hold State of Play in late May, because it seems like there are already plenty of game demos in early June.

At this point, Sony hasn’t revealed anything about the upcoming State of Play show.
