Need for Seat—New Racing Game That Lets You Drive On an Office Chair

The indie game scene is full of strange, amazing, and sometimes even unimaginable titles that manage to capture a massive audience—at times even outperforming major AAA projects. It appears that Need for Seat, from the developers at Deadleg Production, has become one of those games.

Beyond its memorable title, which clearly alludes to the Need for Speed series, the game literally lets players race on office chairs—something some employees enjoy doing in real life. Need for Seat was highlighted on X by user IndieGameJoe, a fan of discovering unconventional indie projects.

This indie team is making a kart racing game where your vehicle is an office chair

- Drift office chairs through hallways

- Each chair & driver has unique perks

- The longer you drift, the faster you go

Would you play this? It's called Need for Seat

The description of Need for Seat on Steam reveals that you can choose a certain character for the racing, which has its own characteristics: Top Speed, Acceleration, Boost Speed, Normal Turn Speed, and Drift Turn Speed. Participants in these so-called races are distinguished by their appearance, much like office chairs, which share the aforementioned characteristics. Need for Seat is also having Lucky Box Power-Ups—similar to what we can see in Mario Kart video games.

At the moment, the only platform on which Need for Seat will be available is PC (Steam). The exact release date, as well as a possible console release, remains unknown. Meanwhile, Insider Gaming hinted that the game might be involved in this month’s Insider Gaming Showcase on May 28, as the abovementioned IndieGameJoe is confirmed to appear at the presentation.
