New Details of Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC and Code Veronica Remake Revealed by Insider

As we know, Capcom is officially working on a DLC to Resident Evil Requiem that will include not just a mini-game that is very likely to be released soon, as was teased by the studio, but also a story expansion that will continue the story of Requiem or may include some materials that didn’t make it to the final cut.

At the same time, the studio is developing the remake of 2000’s Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which is said to be Capcom’s priority at the moment and the next big Resident Evil installment. The title is reportedly directed by Kazunori Kadoi & Yasuhiro Anpo—the duo responsible for directing the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4—will be confirmed this year and released in 2027.

Although Capcom hasn’t revealed anything about either the story expansion to Resident Evil Requiem or Code Veronica Remake, the franchise insider Marcox has revealed new information about upcoming titles, which he had already done before.

Previously, he reported that the story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem would reveal the game’s “true ending” and lay the groundwork for the upcoming tenth installment. Additionally, according to his sources, Capcom will release the first teaser on May 15, and the expansion will be titled Resident Evil Requiem: Extraction. You can check out more rumored details about the story expansion to Requiem below:

  • Capcom is planning to reuse areas around Raccoon City and allow players to drive them. Shortly after the game’s release, another franchise, Dusk Golem, reveals that Capcom cut another section of Raccoon City, available for driving.
  • We will see what Leon has been doing behind the scenes during the main story of Requiem.
  • It will also reveal which “organization” Ada Wong has been working for and whether she is affiliated with Wesker or working alone.
  • Story expansion will reportedly be the “final farewell” for Chris Redfield as a field soldier, and in future installments he will be in a leadership role.
  • A recent leak confirms the existence of a completely new face model for Albert Wesker in Capcom’s database. It is said to be used in flashbacks and old recordings for the Requiem’s story expansions.

It looks like this report confirms previous rumors about Leon S. Kennedy being the main character in Requiem’s story expansion, as well as the return of Ada Wong, who was considered for a role in the ninth game but cut.

As for Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake, Marcox shared that we might see some kind of “temporary infection” for Claire or Chris during which visual hallucinations will happen to connect more deeply with the T-virus. Capcom is actively working to upgrade the combat system that will be inspired by the one we saw in Resident Evil 4: Remake - dodging and parrying—as well as the game being about to feature Lumen technology - realistic, dynamic lighting, where darkness and illuminated elements will become an integral part of the gameplay. At last, some “very fantastical” enemies will be replaced by monsters more similar to those from the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4.

Marcox has previously shared information about Resident Evil 10; according to him, it will feature a new protagonist named Talia and bring together Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine to battle Alex Mercer.

There is also a new Resident Evil adaptation, directed by Zach Cregger (Weapons), that will premiere in September. You can check out the film’s first teaser here.
