Resident Evil Requiem DLC Might Be Dedicated to Leon S. Kennedy
Resident Evil Requiem just got released last week, and it’s named one of the best games of 2026 so far. Capcom did a tremendous job by also giving us one of the most high-quality games in the franchise. Obviously, Leon S. Kennedy is definitely the key to this success and the character who stole the show.
Just like previous Resident Evil installments, Requiem is also likely to get a DLC soon; earlier reports suggested it will be related to Alyssa Ashcroft, the mother of another playable character, Grace Ashcroft, who also appears in the game. In a new report, prominent Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem reveals more information on a DLC for Resident Evil Requiem and adds it could be related to Leon S. Kennedy, as you can check below:
“RE9's DLC was originally conceived to help space out the release between RE9 & the upcoming Code Veronica & Zero Remakes back when RE9 was coming out in 2025, but it got delayed, so the DLC should be releasing in a far closer window, especially with CVR slated to be announced this year. Previously I mentioned Alyssa, the reason for that is I've heard they have a fully playable version of her rigged up that I heard was likely not playable in the main game but being made for some DLC thing, no further context than that. However, more recently I've been hearing a few times in the grapevine now there's likely a Leon DLC.
I do not know the scope of RE9's DLC outside of it existing, but I can take some educated guesses. Nakanishi said there would be stuff to keep people playing RE9 long after the main story was complete. Most RE Engine games have had post-launch bonus modes added to the game. That seems likely, & if a story DLC is Leon focused, could also explain why I know of Alyssa being playable if it was made for some DLC bonus mode. But to see.
I'm aware of some content that was cut out of the final game, some evidently really late in development related to Leon. There’re also some dev comments from interviews they said about Leon that's not present in the final game. I have my suspicions some of this was maybe repurposed in dev.
For release timing, I don't know Capcom's plans, but I'm very suspicious of the RE9 Amiibos releasing on July 30th this year that add weapon skins & such, that feels like a part in a bigger DLC marketing push if you asked me.
But where we're at presently.”
It’s interesting that scooper mentions that Alyssa Ashcroft was a playable character at some point. This may fit with a report that Alyssa DLC has been planned for Resident Evil Requiem. He’s also claiming about the cut content related to Leon and hinting it could be potentially revealed in the DLC. According to a previous report by Dusk Golem, Capcom has cut the possibility to drive Leon’s car around a second section of Raccoon City, as well as Spencer’s Mansion from the original Resident Evil video game. Although the insider doesn’t say whether these features will be available in possible DLC about Leon, it’s clearly a possibility.
Resident Evil Requiem is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
