Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake Might Receive an Unexpected Gameplay Feature
Although there is still no confirmation from Capcom, a remake of 2000’s Resident Evil Code: Veronica is expected to be the next game released by the studio. This project features Chris and Claire Redfield as protagonists and takes place three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
Just like previous Resident Evil remakes, Code Veronica is very likely to include multiple and some big changes from the original. And according to the latest report from insider Marcox, Capcom is working on a real-time swap mechanic for Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake, which will allow players to switch between Chris and Claire in certain moments of the game. Although he didn’t mention whether this feature will be available all the time, just like in Grand Theft Auto V, this is probably related to solving the puzzles.
“Recent reports in Veronica confirm that Capcom is working on a "real-time swap" system between Claire and Chris in certain areas of the game.”
This week, Marcox also revealed possible details of the upcoming Resident Evil 10: according to him, it will be the scariest Resident Evil title ever, with a brand-new character named Talia, who survived the biological incident in a modern-day European city.
Speaking of Code Veronica Remake, the game is rumored to be directed by Kazunori Kadoi & Yasuhiro Anpo, the directors of Resident Evil 2: Remake and Resident Evil 4: Remake. We will also see more focus on Claire Redfield rather than Chris, also more horror vibes, the possibility to interact and explore scenes that were cutscenes in the original title, and probably story expansion similar to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. An official announcement from Capcom is expected to happen this year, with a release in 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Besides Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake, Capcom is also working on DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. It is also mentioned that several remakes are in development as well—including Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil Zero, and the original Resident Evil video game.
