Battlefield 6 Season 2 Deploys With New Maps, Weapons, And The Return Of The Little Bird
The next major conflict in Battlefield 6 begins with Season 2, which launches on February 17. The update continues the game’s narrative of a global war in 2028, this time shifting the front to the Bavarian Alps in Germany. The new season will be released in three distinct phases over the next few months: Extreme Measures, Nightfall, and Hunter/Prey. The first phase brings back a fan-favorite vehicle, alongside a new map, new weapons, and a mind-bending limited-time mode. I see the community has been asking for the Little Bird for a while.
A key addition arriving with the Season 2 launch is the AH-6 Little Bird scout helicopter. This agile aircraft, effective against infantry and light vehicles, was a staple in previous entries. It will be available on a variety of maps at the start of the season.
"The AH-6 Little Bird is returning, and will be available across a variety of maps,"
- was revealed in a press presentation.
"We look forward to seeing just how much chaos you skilled pilots out there will inflict with it."
The first phase, Extreme Measures, also introduces the map Contaminated. Set at an airbase in a German mountain range, the map is described as falling between Eastwood and Mirak Valley in size, comparable to classic maps like St. Quentin Scar. It supports all combat sizes, including land vehicles and helicopters. A new limited-time mode, VL-7 Strike, will utilize an experimental psychochemical smoke that causes visual and auditory hallucinations. Players can negate the effects by equipping a gas mask.
The launch also delivers four new weapons: the GRT-CPS marksman rifle, the VCR-2 assault rifle, and the M121 A2 light machine gun. Two new gadgets are also included: the Engineer's 9K38 IGLA active-locking air-defense launcher and the Recon's HTI-MK2 hardware suppression system.
On March 17, the second phase, Nightfall, will begin. This update adds Hagental Base, an infantry-only map focused on intense, subterranean combat with destructible environments and flanking routes. A limited-time mode, also called Nightfall, will plunge the map into near-total darkness, making night-vision goggles and other light sources essential for survival. This phase also adds the M1030-1 Dirt Bike, the fastest land vehicle in the game, along with two new weapons: the high-fire-rate CZ3A1 submachine gun and the VZ.61 machine pistol sidearm.
The season's final phase, Hunter/Prey, is scheduled to launch on April 14. This will introduce Operation Augur, a new mode inspired by Battlefield 1's Operations, which tasks forces with determining the fate of Hagental Base. This update will also add the Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) and the KAPOK 14” Machete melee weapon. Throughout the season, Battlefield Studios confirms that hundreds of gameplay improvements, including weapon balance tuning, vehicle refinements, and stability fixes, will be implemented. I do think the weapon recoil tuning will be a welcome change for many players.
