Larian Studios Shares Update on New Divinity Video Game - “Still Have a Lot of Work”

For all RPG fans, the new Divinity from Larian Studios is perhaps the most anticipated title in the genre. The developers have established themselves as exceptional experts, primarily thanks to Baldur's Gate 3, which has become one of the best games in its generation, and players can't wait to see what their new project will be like.

However, don't expect a release anytime soon. Swen Vincle, the head of Larian Studios, hinted at this on his X page. He commented on The PC Gamer Top 100 for 2026 list, in which the aforementioned Baldur's Gate 3 took first place and Divinity: Original Sin 2 came in 11th, adding that the developers need more time to work on Divinity.

Proud to see BG3 at #1 and Divinity:Original Sin 2 #11!

It’s really encouraging to see our style of gameplay awarded like this because what comes next - i.e. the new Divinity - is built on the shoulders of these two by pretty much the same team together with a whole new group of very talented devs. We still have a a lot of work but I’m hopeful that if you liked these two, you’ll love this one too.

Thanks PC Gamer!

Last month, Vincle also reacted very emotionally to the shutdown of BioWare. He stated that “it's a loss for all of us” and that the studio’s games, among other things, had been a source of inspiration for Larian Studios.

As for Divinity, the game was announced last year at The Game Awards. According to available information, the game will feature a co-op mode, mod support, even more extensive customization, and freedom of action, where choices and consequences will matter. The events of Divinity reportedly take place about 100 years after Divinity: Original Sin 2.

The release date for Divinity is currently unknown. The game is now only confirmed to release on PC but is likely to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as well.
