Rockstar Games Teases GTA 6 on PC Via Its Launcher

Two weeks from now, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users will have yet another—albeit significant—advantage over PC gamers, if you can call it that. GTA 6, the most anticipated game of this generation, will be available to everyone, while PC users will have to wait for its release—as is usually the case—until around mid-2027, according to preliminary forecasts.

However, a new discovery suggests that Rockstar is preparing to release GTA 6 on PC. As noted by insider Tex2, the studio has updated its launcher by adding a new overlay (Overlay V3). To access it, PC users can launch any game and manually activate the overlay to see the studio’s updated social network interface. Thus, it’s possible that Rockstar is already implementing features for the future PC version of GTA 6.

Rockstar updated the launcher today, adding the new PC in-game overlay.

You can check it out by launching a Rockstar game with the -scEnableOverlayV3 command-line parameter.

You can connect to Discord to view your friends list on Rockstar Games Launcher. Steam and Epic Games tabs are referenced in the Connections UI.The new overlay also features Streamer mode.

Rockstar Games hasn't commented on a PC version of GTA 6 yet, as they are fully focused on the console release. In a post yesterday, the company confirmed that the game’s pre-load will begin next week, on November 10, and reveal it's size - 212 GB. To make sure you have time to download it, take advantage of this great deal by buying GTA 6 on Eneba. Use the promo code EGW5 to get 5% off, and Eneba will give you 14% cashback on your purchase—and don’t forget to check out the sales section!

As for GTA 6’s PC version, early last month GamesBeat reported that the game will come out in the first quarter of 2027. The source reportedly cited four people familiar with the situation inside the studio, but fans were skeptical of this information, since Rockstar usually releases PC versions of its games much later. For his part, Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, stated that the PC release of GTA 6 will launch 6–7 months after the console release—that is, by the end of June 2027, which seems more likely.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
