Rockstar Games Revealed GTA 6’s Size - 212 GB - and Confirmed Game’s Pre-Load Starts Next Week

The gaming community has officially declared November 2026 to be “GTA 6 Month”—and for good reason, considering that Rockstar's project is the most anticipated game of this generation. The developers also made an important announcement, confirming when the game will be available for pre-download and revealing its file size—which is quite impressive.

Rockstar Games has confirmed the pre-load of GTA 6 will begin next week, on November 10. For PlayStation 5 owners, it will start at 12:00 a.m. local time, while Xbox Series X/S users will have to wait just a little longer—they’ll be able to start downloading the game at 12:00 a.m. GMT. The developers have also stated the installation will require up to 212 GB of free hard drive space, noting that this may vary “depending on your device.”

Grand Theft Auto VI pre-load begins on November 10. There’s still time to pre-order and ensure you're able to experience Grand Theft Auto VI when it launches on November 19.

Last week, an insider confirmed GTA 6 would require 210 GB of hard drive space, which turned out to be true. This makes the game one of the most expansive not only in terms of its in-game world but also in terms of the storage space required for installation.

As reported by Edge magazine, GTA 6 will feel a lot like an RPG, allowing players to decide for themselves what to do in the game world without being bound by specific rules or a set way of life. This was confirmed by Aaron Garbutt, head of development at Rockstar North. Additionally, Polymarket shared predictions regarding GTA 6’s potential Metacritic score. 78% are confident it will be 96+, while slightly fewer—56%—believe the game will receive a 97+, the same as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. The review embargo lifts one day before the official release.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
