New Divinity Details Revealed by Larian Studios

Larian Studios, the developers of the Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity franchises, has decided to organize an AMA session on Reddit, where they revealed a bunch about their upcoming new Divinity video game, announced during The Game Awards 2025 show.

It has been revealed around 500 developers are now working on a new Divinity video game—and it’s already more than were involved during the development of Baldur’s Gate 3 at the final stage. The game will include a co-op mode, available at the start; however, it is not decided yet how much players will be able to play together. The support of mods has been confirmed for the game as well. Perhaps the most important part is that Larian Studios is not going to use GenAI tools for concept art.

A lot of Reddit users have asked similar questions with a comparison to the developer’s latest title, Baldur’s Gate 3, and it looks like Divinity will be an even bigger game. It has been confirmed character customization is expected to be more massive than in all their previous games, and the looting system and the camera will be taken from Baldur’s Gate 3 and upgraded.

Speaking of some story and gameplay details, Divinity’s story takes place around 100 years after the events of Divinity: Original Sin 2, and the developers are eyed to make a folk horror atmosphere, though the game’s tone will be mostly dark. Larian is making a big focus on role-playing freedom and player’s choice, as consequences of decisions will have much role. There is also a brand-new mechanic for Divinity, but the developers are keeping it a secret and not ready to show it to the players yet.

At last, Divinity is planned to release on Steam Deck, while a release on Nintendo Switch 2 is being considered. Currently, the game is confirmed to release on PC, with the release date being unknown.
