Running With Scissors Shuts Down Newly Announced Postal Game After Immediate Backlash
A new POSTAL game surfaced briefly this week before its publisher pulled the plug. Running With Scissors unveiled POSTAL: Bullet Paradise, a project developed by Goonswarm Games and planned for release on Steam. Within hours, the studio shut it down and removed its store page, responding to criticism that the game relied on AI-generated content.
The backlash formed quickly on Steam, where early viewers flagged artwork and assets they believed were produced by AI tools. The reaction marked a breaking point for Running With Scissors, which said it lost confidence in the developer and moved to end the project outright. The studio framed the decision as a matter of protecting its audience and addressing the concerns of long-time players who objected to the material.
The cancellation erased the game’s official presence, though the announcement trailer remains online through mirrors. One of the more widely circulated copies sits on the GamersPrey YouTube channel, which preserved the footage before the takedown. Running With Scissors has not challenged those reuploads, and the clip is expected to persist across platforms.
Bullet Paradise was positioned as a standalone entry within a franchise known for its irreverent style and uneven production history. Its termination underscores persistent tensions around the use of generative tools in commercial releases and the scrutiny directed at studios that attempt to integrate them without clear disclosure.
The publisher noted that POSTAL 2 Redux, a Unity-based remake of Postal 2, remains in development. The project has no release target, and updates have been limited, but Running With Scissors signaled that it is still moving forward despite the setback surrounding Bullet Paradise.
