Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has officially announced that this year’s Project NEXT update will hit the Original Server on September 17. The highly anticipated patch introduces a massive wave of content, including a complete Annual Map Change with four new battlefield layouts, the debut of a brand-new hero Obsidia, major hero revamps, an overhauled Achievement System, and several quality-of-life improvements.

Annual Map Change: Four New Battlefields

Project NEXT is MLBB’s yearly initiative to refresh gameplay and keep the experience exciting for players. This year, the focus is on a completely reworked battlefield experience, featuring four brand-new maps that will be randomly selected during the hero pick phase.

1. Dangerous Grass

This map introduces dense patches of tall grass across the high ground, inner turrets, Mid Lane, and Lord’s pit. These bushes create fresh ambush opportunities, especially for burst-heavy heroes like Eudora and Saber, who can now pull off devastating surprise combos. When combined with last year’s Sky Piercer feature and its 80 Lethality stack, these heroes become even deadlier.

2. Broken Walls

Broken Walls brings new shortcuts and pathways throughout the map, giving mobility-focused heroes such as Johnson more creative playmaking opportunities. Even immobile heroes like Cecilion benefit, gaining extra escape routes. Junglers also get a new tactical edge — they can now sneak into the Lord or Turtle pit from behind, opening up exciting objective-steal possibilities.

3. Flying Cloud

This map offers a unique respawn flight mechanic. After reviving, players can hover above the high ground for five seconds using a special platform near the base. This allows for quicker reinforcements, surprise defenses, and clutch saves against enemy pushes.

4. Expanding Rivers

Expanding Rivers adds flowing currents to key areas of the map, granting heroes a speed boost for faster rotations, ganks, and escapes. This change is particularly valuable for heroes with limited mobility, like Nana or Ixia, helping them reposition and support allies more effectively.

New Hero: Obsidia

Season 38 welcomes Obsidia, a new marksman and former sovereign of the bottomless pit of the Land of Dawn. She takes center stage in this year’s update, promising a fresh playstyle for marksman enthusiasts. Players can dive deeper into her abilities and strategies in the official hero overview.

Major Hero Revamps & Abyss Overhaul
