Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary and Nintendo’s Celebration Plans

Nintendo’s September 2025 Direct began by setting the tone for the company’s upcoming celebration of Super Mario Bros.’ 40th anniversary in 2026. A number of special events were detailed, including Kyoto’s Nintendo Museum issuing an exclusive anniversary ticket and hosting a light display in December 2025. Nintendo also confirmed sponsorship of the Kyoto Marathon on February 15, 2026, where participants will have access to themed race bibs and other anniversary tie-ins. This marked the start of a Direct that emphasized both nostalgia and forward-looking releases across franchises.

Super Mario Galaxy Games Return and a New Movie

Nintendo announced that Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will arrive in a bundled release for Switch and Switch 2 on October 2, 2025. Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Resident Evil Requiem and Other Capcom Updates
