The showcase itself was packed with reveals — including a new look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the first teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the timed exclusive launch of Hades 2 (1.0 version), and confirmation that the next mainline entry, Resident Evil Requiem, will hit Switch 2 on day one.

🎮 Why These Ports Matter

While Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) reignited the franchise’s popularity, it was Resident Evil 7 (2017) that reinvented the series with its first-person perspective and new protagonist, Ethan Winters. Its follow-up, Resident Evil Village (2021), pushed the formula further with gothic castles, lycans, and iconic villains like Lady Dimitrescu.

Both games have been available on the original Switch only through cloud streaming, but with Switch 2’s improved hardware, these ports are expected to be native versions — a huge step forward for Nintendo fans.

Resident Evil 7 & Village Officially Coming to Switch 2 1

📅 Release Date

  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Switch 2
  • Resident Evil Village – Switch 2
  • Resident Evil Requiem – Switch 2

🗓️ All three will release on February 27, 2026.

This lineup means Switch 2 players can dive into Winters’ full story before stepping into Requiem on launch day.

🔮 What’s Next for Resident Evil on Switch 2?

Capcom hasn’t confirmed if its recent remakes — Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 — will also make their way to Switch 2, but given this announcement, it feels inevitable. Rumors continue to swirl that the next remake project could be either Resident Evil Code: Veronica or Resident Evil 0.

For now, one thing is clear: with Requiem arriving day one on Switch 2, it sets the expectation that all future Resident Evil games will launch simultaneously across Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Switch 2.
