Hades 2 Release Date Confirmed for Switch and PC
Hades 2, the sequel to Supergiant Games’ acclaimed action-roguelike, will officially launch on September 25 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC. The game exits early access on Steam, where current players will automatically receive the full release as a free update.
The news was announced during Nintendo Direct, which also revealed a fresh trailer showcasing Melinoe’s underworld journey. Switch players can upgrade to Switch 2 for free, with the newer console supporting 120fps in docked mode. Cross saves will work across all platforms, ensuring progress can be carried over between PC and Switch versions.
Supergiant confirmed earlier this year that Hades 2 would be a timed console exclusive for Nintendo hardware, continuing the studio’s strong ties with the platform after the success of the first Hades.
This is Supergiant’s first sequel, following the breakout success of Hades in 2020. The original was praised for its fast-paced combat and evolving narrative. Early access for Hades 2 introduced new regions, abilities, and mythological storylines tied to Melinoe, sister of Zagreus.
"Supergiant's first ever sequel may feel very comfortable and familiar, but Hades' best weapon remains the power of surprise," — Supergiant Games
Supergiant’s sequel brings both critical weight and fan anticipation, making it the biggest indie challenger to Blue Prince’s spotlight. Whether Blue Prince holds its crown or Hades 2 reclaims the throne, this fall is set to define the indie scene of 2025. The full release will unlock the complete narrative arc and final content, with ongoing support planned. Positioned as one of the major fall releases, Hades 2 is shaping up as a key title for Nintendo’s Switch 2 lineup and a milestone for Supergiant.
