inZOI’s First DLC Drops at Gamescom, Adds Tropical Map and Farming

Krafton is taking inZOI to Gamescom this year, and they’re not showing up empty-handed. The game’s first DLC will be revealed live during Opening Night Live on August 19, marking the next big content milestone for the life sim that’s still riding high months after its March launch.

The new DLC is adding a full tropical map called Cahaya, which is split across two separate islands. The main island will include new activities like farming and fishing, giving players more ways to build a digital lifestyle beyond chatting and decorating. The second island will be more of a chill zone, built as a resort space where Zois can hang out after a day of work or play.

If you’re going to the show in person, Cahaya will also be playable on the floor — this will be the DLC’s first public demo.

The new map takes inspiration from Southeast Asia, giving it a bright and summery theme that leans into palm trees and ocean views. That’s not all — the DLC also brings in more character customization and home decoration items. There’s no hard release date yet, but Krafton clearly plans to show off enough content at Gamescom to get people talking.

This upcoming expansion follows a major patch from June that added a long list of updates and improvements. If you missed it, that patch included everything from modding support to the ability to start relationships, have kids (even through adoption), and more visual feedback on how your Zoi’s lifestyle affects their body. Our earlier story, dedicated inZOI’s Big June Update, breaks down everything that landed in that update, including over 100 new furniture pieces and tweaks to social systems like item exchanges and pre-set texting for relationship building.

Even with all those upgrades, some players still felt something was missing. As we reported in “inZOI issues” text, parts of the fanbase were hoping for more challenge or depth in daily interactions. This upcoming DLC seems like an answer to that — farming and fishing can add more long-term goals, and the two-island design opens the door for new social events or progression systems.

And of course, Krafton has every reason to keep this game moving forward. Since its launch, inZOI has become one of the publisher’s biggest success stories of the year. In “ inZOI Crushed Its Launch, ” text, we covered how the game managed to dominate charts and bring in fresh revenue without any microtransaction drama. With the addition of this DLC and future updates, inZOI could easily become a long-term live service project, especially if mod support keeps growing.

The one downside is the wait. Krafton hasn’t said when the DLC will actually launch. If there’s no surprise drop during Gamescom, players may have to hold on until later in the year. But Krafton is clearly aware that people are watching closely. The June patch was delayed by about a month, and after some confusion online, the studio had to clarify the rollout in a blog post. Game director Hyungjun Kim promised more consistent communication moving forward, which may explain why the DLC announcement is coming through a high-profile, global event like Opening Night Live.

Until the new content lands, inZOI’s base game continues to grow. The June patch added cheat code support, UI scaling, and better matchmaking for social encounters. Players can now swap items with one another, and there are more ways to customize both appearance and behavior. These tweaks have made everyday life in the game more flexible, and that flexibility is what inZOI has always been going for.

The DLC is more than just extra stuff. It could be the start of a new cycle for inZOI: one where players shape their communities not just through social links, but through shared environments and longer-term projects like farming. If Cahaya lands well, it’s likely we’ll see even more biome-based expansions in the future — or perhaps an overhaul of the career system next.

For now, though, Gamescom is the next stop. Keep your eyes on Krafton’s showcase during Opening Night Live — because inZOI is clearly just getting started.
