inZOI’s Big June Update Brings Modding, Deeper Sims, and the Game’s First-Ever Sale
I hopped back into inZOI this week, and not just because the game finally got a discount. It’s been months of silence and slow development, so I wasn’t exactly holding my breath. But when I saw the June update drop—with an actual modding toolkit, better relationship systems, new building tools, and more—I had to dive in again.
Here's what happened in the game world before. The blogger didn't like that there were no gays in the inZOI, see and read about it. Until then, until the update.
And yeah, it's not just hype. This update actually moves inZOI closer to the life-sim giant it’s trying to rival. It still has its jank, sure, but this patch finally feels like a game hitting its stride.
On the formal side, update v0.2.0 for inZOI landed on June 13. It arrives with the first-ever Steam discount on the title—just 10%, but significant as it marks the game’s debut sale since launching into Early Access in March. The update is timed with publisher Krafton’s first major Steam sale, which includes 17 of their titles.

The headline feature here is ModKit: official modding support that’s impressively full-featured for an Early Access game. It enables players to create custom outfits, furniture, and even alter gameplay data—something Sims fans will instantly recognize as a game-changer. Mods can be uploaded via CurseForge or installed manually. There's also a mod browser now in-game, and tools for editing content without touching code, thanks to a wizard-based UI.
That’s not all. FBX assets, Maya and Blender plugins, and full documentation make it extremely accessible for creators, even those not seasoned in Unreal development. ModKit is clearly central to Krafton’s long-term plan for inZOI.
Let me quickly remind you why inZOI was hyped up at its release, to throw in something funny. Players quite successfully copied celebrities, such as Walter White, the main character of the TV series Breaking Bad. That's it.
But mods aren’t the only thing that got a boost. The actual simulation depth took a big leap forward. Characters can now adopt kids, have children outside of marriage, explore teen romances, and even be the one to send the first text in a relationship. Same-sex relationships are now officially supported. Gender identity options have also been expanded, giving players more flexibility in creating characters.
One of the most noticeable gameplay changes is a rework to the aging system. Young adulthood has been extended, and systems like starting funds and the prison mechanic have been tweaked to better reflect realistic life arcs. Additions like new cheat codes, customizable UI scaling, and smoother controls also contribute to the growing polish.

For customization lovers, the character update includes 29 new items—ranging from hairstyles and overalls to boots, socks, and accessories. What’s more impressive is the addition of accessory positioning: glasses, earrings, and headwear can now be adjusted freely. This flexibility is something fans have begged for since launch.
The Building Mode also saw a major expansion. There are 175 new furniture and build items, with themes for bedrooms, kitchens, common spaces, and even prison-themed sets like barred windows. Lighting placement has improved, camera controls are tighter, and you can now auto-save builds if the game crashes.
There’s even a set of keyboard shortcuts that finally make building feel fluid instead of clunky. Things like Ctrl+R for color editing and H for moving the house are small changes that stack up fast.
