The first wave of PUBG: Black Budget leaks has put early gameplay from the closed alpha build into circulation, offering an unfiltered look at Krafton’s extraction shooter. The footage, recorded from the ongoing PC test, shows the title running at around 100 frames per second on unspecified hardware and gives a clear sense of the project’s structure.

Black Budget places players in the role of Contractors deployed to a remote island locked in a time loop triggered by an anomaly. The assignment centers on retrieving advanced research materials connected to a program known as SAPIENS. Each run tasks players with securing artifacts, studying their properties, and pushing further into the island as conditions shift with every loop reset. The setting covers a 2.5-by-2.5-kilometer open-world zone with multiple biomes and underground spaces that shape movement and combat.

Matches can last up to half an hour and follow a pattern of exploration, conflict, and extraction. The island hosts both human opponents and hostile creatures, creating layered PvPvE scenarios that escalate the longer a player remains in the loop. Difficulty scales with character level and time spent in-session. Squads of up to three enter each match under level- and squad-based matchmaking, with a cap of 45 players per instance.

Progression between runs centers on upgrading a personal base, crafting equipment, and developing skill paths. These systems frame the extraction cycle and encourage repeat attempts as players learn how the anomaly alters each encounter. The leaked footage does not show the full range of tools or enemy types, but it outlines how pacing changes as the loop destabilizes.

Krafton is preparing a formal Closed Alpha Test on PC from December 12 to December 22. Access requests are available through the game’s Steam page. The leak itself arrives in low quality, though it captures enough of the interface and mission flow to signal the project’s current direction. The studio has not commented on the distribution of the footage, and no broader testing dates have been announced.
