WUCHANG’s PC Specs Are Brutal — And So Is the Game
I just watched 20 minutes of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers gameplay from the Summer Game Fest demo, and yeah—it’s very much the Souls-like I wanted this year. Imagine Black Myth: Wukong but stripped of the flashy myth-creature overload and plunged into something more grounded, grimy, and grim. I saw dodge-heavy combat, super tight parry windows, and one hell of a boss fight in a blood-soaked palace courtyard. It’s not flashy for flash’s sake—it’s deliberate. And slow. And brutal.
The vibe is dark fantasy through a distinctly Chinese historical filter. Set in the land of Shu during the late Ming Dynasty, you play as Wuchang, a pirate warrior with amnesia who’s infected with something called Ornithropy. That disease? Yeah, it turns people into grotesque, bird-like monsters. You're not just fighting to survive—you're fighting not to become the thing you're slaying.
The world’s packed with warring factions and weird rituals, but it doesn’t feel bloated. The 20-minute clip felt focused. The fights were tight. The movement was precise. And the weapons, especially after enchantments, looked like they meant business. No floaty hitboxes here. You get tagged, you feel it.
What hit me, though, was the animation work. Every sword clash and dodge roll felt heavy. There's no “spam dodge and pray” tactic here. You either learn patterns or you die trying. I saw some cool loot drops and red-glowing resource orbs—turns out that’s Red Mercury, which lets you upgrade your fighting style over time. No linear skill tree, just something you sculpt based on how aggressive or tactical you are. Which is neat, because Soulslikes that box you into one archetype get old fast.
Now for the bad news: if your rig is anything below 2020-tier, this game’s gonna cook your PC.
On the technical side, 505 Games has officially published the WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers system requirements, and they are demanding, even for a Soulslike built on Unreal Engine 5. The minimum setup demands:
Minimum Specs:
- OS: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- RAM: 16GB (dual-channel strongly recommended)
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6GB)
- Storage: SSD
- Input: Gamepad
- Required Account: Epic ID
That’s right—16GB RAM minimum. And yes, even at this level, a gamepad is listed as required. This isn’t a title built with keyboard-mashing in mind. Movement, blocking, and parrying feel tuned to analog control.
For those seeking optimal performance, here’s what 505 Games recommends:
Recommended Specs:
- OS: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i5-12600KF or AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
- RAM: 32GB (dual-channel again emphasized)
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT (12GB)
- Storage: SSD
A few things stand out here. First, the jump from 16GB to 32GB RAM shows how heavy the game leans on high-fidelity environments and possibly large enemy AI states. Second, this is a UE5 game, so expect support for features like Lumen and Nanite eventually, even though no official confirmation exists yet. What we can assume is likely DLSS, FSR, and potentially Intel XeSS support given the engine.
This spec sheet was first released in April but has since been confirmed and updated for the July 24 launch on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also expected, though details on frame rates and resolution caps remain unconfirmed.
What’s also notable is the broad language support, both in text and audio. Audio is fully supported in English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese, while text localization expands to over ten languages, including French, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, and Korean. So it’s safe to say 505 Games is aiming globally with this one.
If you’re into punishing action games, WUCHANG looks ready to pull no punches—both in gameplay and in what it demands from your PC. I saw tons of dodging, some creepy lore threads, and a serious “earn your victory” vibe. The July 24 release can’t come soon enough. Just make sure your rig can take it, or the only thing falling will be your frame rate.
