Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch 2 — Edition Details and Graphics Improvements
Sega, the publisher of Hogwarts Legacy for Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan, has shared details about the improvements players can expect on the new console.
On Nintendo Switch 2, the game will run at 1440p when docked and 1080p in handheld mode, with both modes supporting HDR.
Additionally, the game will feature DLSS upscaling technology from Nvidia.
Sega specifically highlighted that the number of loading screens will be significantly reduced on the new console — addressing one of the main complaints from owners of the original Switch version.
Players can also expect notable graphical improvements, including higher-quality lighting and shadows, better anti-aliasing, and overall enhanced visuals. On top of that, the Switch 2 version will support mouse controls.
Regarding editions, here’s what’s known so far: there will be two versions of the game — Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition.
Standard Edition
- Content: the base game.
- Formats: available both digitally and as a physical version (key card), which requires downloading the main game content from the Nintendo eShop. At least 24 GB of free space is needed on the device.
Digital Deluxe Edition
Content:
- The base game;
- “Dark Arts” pack, including a battle arena, cosmetic set, and Dark Arts garrison hat;
- The ability to ride a Thestral.
- Formats: available only digitally.
It’s important to note that the Nintendo Switch 2 version is a new build of the game using “next-generation resources” and is not a port of the original Switch version. This means that currently, there is no upgrade path for players who already own the game on the original Switch. To access the enhanced Switch 2 version, players will need to purchase the game again.
The release of this version will coincide with the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 — on June 5.
