Sector One owes its players about $13,000

Belgian esports organization Sector One owes about $13,000 to former players, according to Dexerto. Immediately after the announcement of his departure from the scene, some details of the club's financial difficulties, which affect former esports players in the VALORANT and League of Legends disciplines, were revealed.

Sector One reportedly owed more than €9,000 in unpaid wages and around €3,000 in tournament winnings to its former teams.

Recall that the Sector One organization announced its departure from the stage and the closure of all its lineups. The club explained its decision by the presence of financial problems and the lack of proper funding from outside to support the teams.

As Dexerto journalists managed to find out, the organization still has to pay prize money and wages to its former players. In total, outstanding fees could amount to €12,000, which is approximately $13,000.

Talk about problems with payments began in 2022. In June, Sector One updated its League of Legends roster and signed brand new teams. At least two players have been offered one-year contracts despite the month-long Elite Series Summer 2022.

However, after the end of the championship, the club terminated the contracts with the team. Immediately after that, some players presented the organization with delayed wages. Two sources claimed that the players were also being paid less than what had been agreed upon. When asked by players to explain the delay in payments, Sector One stated that Riot Games was investigating the team for possible match-fixing and, according to several sources, ordered the organization to freeze all payments.

Another issue concerns the VALORANT roster that played in the VALORANT Regional Leagues 2022 France: Revolution last season. Here the players also claim that the organization did not pay them wages and prize money for their time spent at Sector One.

Despite all the denials from the club's CEO and the indication of financial problems, in general, Sector One owes its former players. The organization is currently looking to liquidate over €100,000 of its assets, from which players can get their money.
