The Guard saw a wave of layoffs in key divisions
According to the portal Dexerto, the North American esports organization The Guard carried out a large-scale purge of employees. As a result, the creative departments of the club, which were responsible for content creation, social media posting, design and other creative activities, were significantly affected.
Thus, The Guard joins the list of other well-known organizations, including FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid and OpTic Gaming, which have also gone on a reduction in the number of their employees in recent months.
Recently, the North American esports organization FaZe Clan laid off about 20% of its employees.
The North American organization currently has a presence in VALORANT and Apex Legends, and owns LA Gladiators in Overwatch and Los Angeles Guerrillas in Call of Duty. The layoffs reportedly took everyone in the esports industry by surprise as the organization is backed by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, one of the largest sports companies in the world.
Hunter, the former producer of The Guard, has also been hit by a wave of layoffs. He announced on his Twitter that the organization had just laid off all of its staff responsible for content, social media, talent and creative teams.
However, The Guard has yet to announce public layoffs. However, given the availability of information from former employees, the club is experiencing serious financial problems.
Although at the moment all the organization's teams are still functioning, news of mass layoffs does not inspire much confidence in the fans. Probably in the future The Guard will reconsider its participation in any of the disciplines.
