Astralis Commences Talent Roster Overhaul with Addition of New Head Coach

In a bid to revamp their academy roster, Astralis has made a significant move by appointing Alexander "alexsomfan" Nielsen as the fresh Head Coach for their Talent team.

With the departure of Mathias "R0nic" Pinholt, who was elevated to the main team as an assistant coach a few months back, the Danish organization sought out alexsomfan to fill the crucial coaching role amidst a series of changes within and around the Astralis roster.

Drawing from his experience as an in-game leader for various Danish teams, both on local circuits and the international stage, alexsomfan has been an integral part of line-ups alongside notable players such as blameF, HooXi, and raalz, as well as numerous budding talents since 2017.

Taking on a coaching position for the very first time in his career, alexsomfan expressed enthusiasm for the new challenge, affirming, "My primary experience is as a player, but I have been part of building many teams and come with some clear thoughts about what we need to do and how we need to do it."

At the top of his agenda as the newly minted coach will be the reconstruction of the Astralis Talent roster, which has undergone substantial changes in recent times. The team currently stands with only two players after parting ways with Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, losing Kristoffer "Kristou" Aamand, and selling Alexander "br0" Bro and Patrick "Patti" Larsen to Monte and ECSTATIC, respectively.

Kasper Straube, Astralis' Sports Director, emphasized the significance of alexsomfan's role in shaping the future of the Talent team, stating, "alexsomfan's approach to player development and creating the best team and the best possible conditions is exactly what we have been looking for, and his results as an in-game leader prove that he also has the tactical insights we're looking for."

With alexsomfan at the helm, Astralis Talent is determined to construct a formidable and competitive roster for the upcoming autumn season.
