Call of Duty Movie Adaptation Received a Release Date

Last September, Paramount announced the studio is working to Call of Duty franchise to the big screen. And after half the years since then, the movie just received a massive update about its premiere.

The official account of Call of Duty on X social media announced that the upcoming Call of Duty movie adaptation will release in theaters on June 30, 2028. The movie is directed by Peter Berg, who previously directed some blockbusters, such as Hancock, Battleship, and Mile 22. He is also serving as the film’s screenwriter alongside Taylor Sheridan, who is mostly known as the writer of Yellowstone and 1883 TV shows.

“Lock it in. The Call of Duty movie drops into theaters on June 30, 2028.”

When the movie was first announced in September 2025, Paramount CEO David Ellison revealed that the studio wants to “bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.” The cast of the movie, its setting, and the production start remain unknown, but there are plenty of stories the upcoming movie could tell, with such installments as Modern Warfare and Black Ops definitely among players’ preferable choices. But it also could be a completely new story, just like it often happens with the adaptation of video games.

As for the next Call of Duty game, it is rumored to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, developed by Infinity Ward, but it hasn’t been announced yet by Activision. However, according to the latest rumor, the release of Call of Duty 2026 is being eyed for October.
