Call of Duty: Mobile Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Massive Update and New Battle Royale Map!
Call of Duty: Mobile is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a massive update featuring a new battle royale map, a narrative mission, and a series of themed events. Since its launch in 2019, the game has surpassed one billion downloads, and to mark this milestone, Activision and TiMi Studios are rolling out exclusive content and rewards. On November 6, players in both the Premium and free Battle Pass tiers will gain access to one of the game’s largest updates yet.
Though Call of Duty initially gained fame on consoles and PC, it has expanded significantly into mobile gaming in recent years. Earlier in 2024, Activision launched Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, bringing the popular battle royale experience to Android and iOS. Now, as Call of Duty: Mobile celebrates its fifth anniversary and tenth season, it’s being revitalized with a wealth of new content.
On November 4, Call of Duty: Mobile shared details of the anniversary celebration via a blog post and trailer. The highlight of the update is a brand-new map called Krai, which adds a mid-sized battle royale environment. Krai also features a narrative mission that reveals the area’s history, and as players progress through mini-games, they’ll unlock weapons and in-game rewards. Although the post didn’t mention the return of two previously promised maps, fans have welcomed the surprise addition of Krai.
The anniversary update goes beyond just the new map. Despite rumors that Call of Duty: Mobile might be winding down, TiMi Studios has packed Season 10 with fresh content. Players can expect new daily and weekly challenges offering rewards like weapon XP, credits, skins, and blueprints. A new Mythic weapon, the USS 9 SMG, inspired by the Season 10 theme, has also been introduced. Additionally, there’s a teleportation beacon to enhance the Teleport class, new operator skins, and tarot-themed challenges to dive into.
Mobile games have often been viewed as less significant compared to their console and PC counterparts, but titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Fortnite are helping change that perception. Some fans even hope to see a Call of Duty: Mobile-style game on consoles, as free-to-play mobile options have proven to be accessible and enjoyable. This latest update may further solidify Call of Duty: Mobile's reputation as a top-tier mobile title.
