The developers explained the rules for the rotation of cards in VALORANT

Riot Games has officially clarified the rules for card rotation in VALORANT. As the developers will be experimenting with the current map pool in the next major update, they had to reveal some details about future changes.

The next card rotation in VALORANT will begin in early January with the release of patch 6.0. In particular, the Split map will return to the game, but with some revisions. However, Breeze and Bind will retire from the active map pool in Competitive and Unranked Matches, with no return date announced. However, players will be able to play Spike Rush maps, custom games, and other game modes.

A little earlier, Riot Games released an official press release in which they talked about the changes in VALORANT with the release of patch 6.0.

In a recent clarification, Riot Games said Breeze "has some room for improvement in terms of agent and team diversity, as well as some room for space simplification." As for Bind, Riot Games would like to improve strategic diversity and "open up more teleport options and maybe rethink how teams interact with each other."

Summing up, the developers intend to stop at seven active cards in the pool, however, some of them need to be rethought and improved. In addition, Riot Games is actively developing new maps that will be added to the pool as they are released.

The company also considered keeping all maps in unranked mode, but ultimately decided that maintaining parity between all maps made the most sense.

As for the new map, which, according to rumors, will appear in VALORANT at the beginning of next year, the developers have announced the appearance of new mechanics. Joe Lansford, developer of VALORANT, joked that "new mechanics" will appear in the game with the next map. In an interview with Red Bull over the weekend, he explained that the mechanic would not be anything out of the ordinary and would be similar in some ways to another map in the pool.

The new map will have new mechanics. Yes, it's not that crazy, it's not teleporters. But there will be new mechanics. It will look like another card in the pool.

It remains only to wait for fresh details from Riot Games. However, the company is moving in the right direction, constantly rethinking its approach to the development of VALORANT.
