Riot Games plans to continue the policy of paying players additional funds from skin sales
Riot Games plans to continue the policy of paying players additional funds from skin sales. Looking back on the success of VALORANT Champions 2022 and the huge amount of payouts to the championship participants, the developer and publisher is going to increase support for the best esports players in the future.
We want to create an ecosystem where teams participate in the economic success of the leagues. Official relationships with teams allow us to work closely on ambitious projects to create more experiences for fans, helping everyone reach larger audiences, attract new brand partners, and create digital products that reach millions of fans around the world.
However, according to representatives of Riot Games, partner organizations will not be able to simply receive money from the sale of skins. On the contrary, teams will need to invest in esports to keep VALORANT competitive.
We want them to be committed to professionalizing their organizations, building opportunities, providing great careers for their players, and ultimately growing the fandom.
According to the Head of Esports at VALORANT, the Champions Collection added over $20,000,000 to the VALORANT Champions 2022 prize pool. That's over $1,250,000 for each of the 16 organizations that took part in the championship.
Recall that starting next year, the VALORANT ecosystem will take its final form. As a result, three global Leagues for Europe, America and Asia will appear on the scene, each of which will have privileges in terms of performances on the TIER-1 stage. At the same time, Riot Games will develop the Challengers and Ascension series, through which the best teams can break into partner Leagues for a period of two years.
