Riot Games to announce franchise leagues list soon
During one of the main Valorant tournaments, VALORANT Champions 2022, the head of the esports direction, John Needham, said in an interview that Riot Games will soon announce the list of franchise league participants. He said that this could happen between September 19 and 25.
In addition, it was said in an interview that the possibility of holding the next VALORANT Champions LAN finals in Japan is not ruled out, since the popularity of the game there is quite high.
According to John, this is only the beginning of international Valorant tournaments and, in his opinion, this esports discipline has a great future.
John Needham said the following:
We will start next season in February with Kick-off Tournament in Sao Paulo city. At some point we want to have an event in Japan because Valorant is very popular there. In fact, this is only the beginning of the international leagues that we have formed. We will announce all 30 participants next week. I am looking forward to this moment.
In April 2022, it became known that Riot Games would create Valorant franchise leagues, but the organizers have not yet named a list of partner organizations that will be on the list of participants.
According to some rumors, Natus Vincere, FunPlus Phoenix, G2 Esports, Fnatic and others will become the owners of such invites. Riot Games has provided one place for the team that will win the Ascention, however, the invite will be temporary.
Riot Games has previously revealed that they will be hosting only one Masters Series championship in 2023, with the VALORANT Champions 2023 World Championship taking place between August and September.
Earlier, Riot Games published a tentative calendar of tournaments in 2023. The organizers will hold only one Masters, and Valorant Champions 2023 will be held from August to September. More information about the season schedule can be found on our website.
