Rocket League’s RLCS Shop Update Adds Team Decals and Goal Explosions, But Sparks Community Backlash
Rocket League has officially launched a new feature called the RLCS Shop, introducing universal team decals and goal explosions inspired by leading esports organizations. While the move aims to celebrate competitive Rocket League, it has sparked significant backlash from fans due to the exclusion of several prominent teams.
What’s New in the RLCS Shop?
Announced on April 23 via Rocket League’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the RLCS Shop allows players to equip their vehicles with team-themed decals and goal explosions, available for purchase with in-game credits. Each item is inspired by select organizations from various regions participating in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).
Here’s what each featured team is offering:

This marks a major step toward giving fans more ways to support their favorite teams in-game.
Community Reaction: Praise Turns to Criticism
Despite excitement around the concept, many fans were quick to voice their frustrations over what they see as glaring omissions. Notably, Karmine Corp—winners of the RLCS 2025 Birmingham Major—and TU Esports, who finished second, are missing from the list.
One fan on X commented:
“Wait, why isn’t TU decal in the new release? They’re in second place, they deserve to be there!”
The absence of Karmine Corp, one of the scene’s biggest teams, left many in the community stunned. Some are calling the selection of featured organizations unbalanced and out of touch with recent tournament results.
More Fuel on the Fire: Technical Issues and Transparency Concerns
The announcement came after a rough 24 hours for Rocket League, with players reporting server outages and ongoing issues with DDoS attacks. Although developers implemented fixes, problems reportedly persist.
Content creator Evie "Slumpi" expressed mixed feelings on X:
“W for making them usable on more cars. L for involving less organizations. L for lack of communication on ddosing.”
Former Rule One co-founder Incivik also took a jab at the timing of the return of goal explosions, stating:
“It’s almost like you removed team goal explosions when we made Rule One, and brought it back after we closed.”
Looking Ahead: Will More Teams Be Added?
While the RLCS Shop offers new ways to personalize the game, its limited roster has left many fans disappointed. It’s unclear if Epic Games plans to rotate or expand the list of available teams, but the community is already pushing for updates.
Until then, fans of teams like Karmine Corp and TU Esports may have to wait or look elsewhere to show their support.
