CAG Osaka’s BlackRay Arrested in Tokyo on Kidnapping and Torture Charges

Sho “BlackRay” Hasegawa, a professional Rainbow Six Siege player for the Japanese esports teamCAG Osaka, has been arrested by Tokyo Metropolitan Police on serious criminal charges. He is one of seven men suspected of unlawfully detaining and torturing a man over a span of three months.

The arrest occurred on July 16, and footage showing BlackRay entering a police station has surfaced in reports by Jiji Press and All-Nippon News Network. Authorities believe the group blackmailed and held captive a man who served as a lead contractor at an interior renovation site.

According to media reports, the victim endured brutal treatment during his confinement. He was allegedly beaten with a hammer, scalded with boiling water, burned with a frying pan, and stabbed with a screwdriver. The attackers reportedly demanded 2 million yen (around $13,000 USD) from the victim. He suffered severe injuries.

The case came to light on April 30, when police discovered the victim in a car that had crashed into a taxi. The driver, identified as one of the suspects, fled the scene after the accident, prompting further investigation.

Authorities state that the crime took place between February and April 2025. During that period, BlackRay had traveled internationally to participate in major esports tournaments, including the Six Invitational 2025 in Boston and RE:L0:AD in Rio de Janeiro.

In the wake of the arrest, CAG Osaka has removed all images of BlackRay from its website and social media platforms. The team is expected to release an official statement regarding the situation.
